Cemetery of Splendor

A group of soldiers are afflicted with a mysterious sleeping sickness. They stay in a temporary clinic where a volunteer, Jenjira, befriends a soldier, Itt. Jenjira enlists the help of a young psychic to plumb Itt’s soul, releasing memories of loved ones and thoughts, allowing him to communicate.

Apichatpong Weerasethakul is one of our times most distinctive filmmakers. With both humor and warmth he portrays everyday life inflicted by a hidden world of spirits, memories and dreams. His earlier film Uncle Boonmee wan the Palme d’Or in Cannes in 2010. Cemetery of Splendor is Weerasethakul’s seventh feature film, here he invites the audience on an almost meditative journey, both beautiful, mysterious and surprisingly layered.
